Our Mission

At Hacienda Happy Tails, our mission is to provide a lifelong sanctuary for retired and rescued farm animals while offering job skills training and meaningful work experiences to individuals with disabilities and at-risk youth through our Farmers in Training (FIT) program.

We’re cultivating compassion, fostering personal growth, and creating a sustainable community that connects people with animals, nature, and purpose.

About Us.

What began as a simple act of kindness — giving a few retired farm animals a safe home — has grown into a vibrant sanctuary that touches countless lives.

Over time, we saw something beautiful unfold: the animals who once needed saving began to inspire people who visited the farm. Their resilience and gentle nature brought healing and hope to others. This connection inspired the creation of our Farmers in Training (FIT) program, giving individuals with disabilities and at-risk youth the chance to learn, grow, and find purpose through caring for animals and cultivating flowers.

Today, Hacienda Happy Tails stands as a place of inclusion, education, and renewal — where second chances bloom every day.

Our Programs

Through the Farmers in Training (FIT) program, participants learn hands-on agricultural and business skills:

Growing flowers from seed
Caring for rescued animals
Maintaining the farm
Selling pollinator plants and flowers grown on-site

We partner with the California Department of Rehabilitation, Boys & Girls Club, local school districts, and Tulare County Social Services to provide meaningful farm experiences. Every flower sold and every hour volunteered helps sustain our mission and care for our animals.

Community & Impact

With over 2,000 volunteer hours contributed, our sanctuary thrives thanks to our community’s support. Families visit, students learn, and volunteers grow — all while helping us provide lifelong homes for rescued animals and inclusive job training for people of all abilities.
